The Happy Place. Happiness is an Energy

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Self Awareness , Sprituality

Happiness is Misunderstood

Here’s a very misunderstood word: Happy.

Everyone wants to be happy. That’s it. That’s what we all want.

Everything else… Things like: money, love, status, accomplishment, and more are just placebos, things mistakenly substituted for happiness.

The Art of Self Awareness: D • B • I • T • W… Don’t Be In The Way!

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Self Awareness , Uncategorized

Self Awareness is important.  In fact, it is the primary reason we’re all here: The actual point of life is to develop and increase our Self Awareness.  In this post, I’ll discuss some of the finer points of Self Awareness – some common-sense, actionable points which many overlook.

What is Self Awareness?

Self Awareness is ‘the development of an Awareness of the Self’.  (I am not trying to be ‘flippant’ with that answer! 😊)

What the above question & answer really lead to is an even bigger question:  What is the Self?

Most people think the answer to that question is all about the brain.  They think of the ‘Self’ as ‘I’.  I am this.  I do that.  I think these things…

God, Belief, and Spirituality – The Case Against Religion

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Self Awareness , Sprituality

In the following post, I’ll be discussing the realization that most of the world's religions have outlived their usefulness. I'll offer proof. We have reached a moment in time for religion to be abandoned in favor of a different and more powerful, practical, and useful approach; one that helps us understand ourselves, our lives, and how we're all connected.

Although it never is my intent to offend or insult anyone, I realize that some who read this will be. Please Note: To be insulted by this, or anything else is a dynamic illustration of the Ego self in action, an indication of inner discord, and is a learning opportunity.

Active Spirituality™ is a remedy for this conundrum.

Religion Can Be A Waste of Time

Here’s what everyone needs to know: You are God.

This, I know, will be hard for some to believe. Nonetheless, it is true. Everyone alive today is God or, at least, an equal part of the ‘Greater God’.

Most people don’t know this and, even more importantly, don’t want to believe it. That's because this level of awareness and knowledge automatically brings with it a greater responsibility to oneself, to our neighbors, and to our planet, including all its living creatures.

Often, the directives they preach are misguided and even wrong.Well, ultimately, we do know better, even though most aren’t aware of this and don’t realize the power they have.

Spirituality Demystified

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Ego self , Meditation , Sprituality , True Self

What is Spirituality?

The world is an interesting place. And people are interesting creatures.

Some might feel a little uncomfortable being referred to as a ‘creature’ but, in the end, we are creatures, just like all living things – animals, birds, fish, and so on.  In fact, the argument can be made that plants, trees, and even molds and fungus are creatures, too.

Plants, trees, and other organisms are living ‘beings’, each given life by the same inner essence as we animals.

Spiritual Development/Awareness: I Almost Died in The Grand Canyon

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Bruce's Life , Sprituality , True Self

A Naive Approach

Out of water and physically exhausted in the 90 degree-plus, dry heat, I focused on just 1 thing. I believed it was a struggle for my life as willed myself forward, upward, along the seemingly endless climb up the Kaibab Trail at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Exhaustion had reduced my focus to only this: take the next step.

It had come to that. Just take 1 step. And even that felt impossible. Dying on this long, steep trail seemed like a real possibility.

My Meeting with an Enlightened Man: Experiences with Dr. David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Bruce's Life , Sprituality , Uncategorized

I parked my rental car in front of the remotely located address in the gorgeous town of Sedona, Arizona. I walked up a little path on the side of the small but lovely home on what appeared to be a very large property and, as instructed by the email they’d sent, I opened the door to a little waiting area and stepped inside.

I sat on a little wood bench and waited, wondering what was going to happen next. A few minutes after the appointed time, Dr. David R. Hawkins walked out and invited me into the little office in his home.

The Day My Life Changed… Again

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Bruce's Life

Life Changing Events...

Change is a constant in the Universe (an apparent oxymoron). Life changing events usually come without warning (or, are we warned, if we're paying attention?). Such was the case for me on this day.

I came to the realization many years ago: change is good.

I look forward to it. Relish it. And can feel a little stagnant when there’s not enough of it in my life.

But, in addition to the changes we deliberately set in motion, ‘unexpected’ change also is part of life. In that category, there’s good, bad, and the very bad.

When it comes to unexpected change, everyone is fair game. No one is immune. ‘Things’ happen. Sometimes these things are just ‘one of those things’. Other times, they can not-so-subtle messages from the Universe, trying to get your attention.

Look Out!

On October 20, 2015, one of these unexpected things became my new reality…

Meditate For Happiness: The Actual Goal of Meditation

By Bruce Bernstein | All Posts , Meditation , True Self

Do you Meditate?  Are you aware of the many different types of meditation?

There are many ideas about what the outcome of meditation should be.  Relaxation, health, motivation, and even manifestation.  These are just some of the benefits of meditation.

But, few people realize that these are only ‘side benefits’.  There is a bigger picture to consider, a bigger goal for which meditation can be used.

Learn the Key to Happiness, Fulfillment, and Wisdom: The Self

Self Development and Happiness

People have turned to Self Development to find happiness, success and fulfillment for a very long time.

In fact, a while back when bookstores were still popular, before Amazon came into being, they all had Self Development sections with hundreds if not thousands of titles dedicated to ‘How To … Improve – please insert your own particular malady here’.

But, regardless of the particular malady being researched in the Self Development section of the bookstore, the ultimate goal for each searcher was far simpler:
