Religion is Obsolete – Understanding Religion Vs. Spiritual

By Bruce Bernstein | Being Spiritual is Quick and Easy

Let's All Be Spiritual

There is a difference between being religious and being Spiritual. This was not the case thousands of years ago. But it is now.

Long ago, Spirituality wasn’t secretive, like it has become today. Back then, it was shared from parents to children, just as learning to walk and talk were. Today, spirituality is more of a mystery.

Spirituality has taken on a mystical persona, but there is nothing mystical about it.

Here’s why: The practice of Spirituality is the ‘How To’... How you can to connect to, communicate and work with, and use the creative power of God, of your Inner God Self.

Self Awareness – What Is The Self?

By Bruce Bernstein | What is Self Awareness?

Gaining an understanding of the Self – what it is and how to use its innate gifts – is the entire point of Self Awareness.

The psychological community has its definition of the Self.  In this post I’ll be discussing the Spiritual perspective, which is similar in some respects, but also very different.  The Spiritual perspective is more likely to lead one to Wisdom, Inner Peace, and feelings of Contentment and real, unending Happiness.

I’ve spent many hours looking within for answers about the Self.  As Ramana Marharshi suggests in his teachings, I asked the question, ‘Who am I?’.  I still do.

Using this technique, I did get answers and learned much about the Self, about who we really are and what we’re truly made of.

I learned that the answer to this fundamental question is very simple, yet also extremely complex.

Abortion, Pro Choice, and Spirituality: a Different Perspective

By Bruce Bernstein | Social Issues and Spirituality

This article looks at the topic of abortion from a Spiritual perspective, (not through the false eyes of religion), which is the only rational, reality-based way to look at this controversial subject.

Those whose life philosophies are fear-based try to dominate the conversation about this topic. They often come from a place of darkness and misunderstanding. This will bring some light to it.

The Abortion Debate

There are many easy ways to attain knowledge. Books, schools and teachers are all valid places to find knowledge.

Wisdom, on the other hand, is more difficult to come by. Wisdom can only be found within, and it takes the courage to peel away the layers of darkness to discover the light that’s already there, underneath.

I have been fortunate in my life to have uncover the inner source of wisdom. That is not to say that I have all the answers. I do not. Wisdom doesn’t work that way.

But I have been blessed with some answers to the questions which interested me. Regarding the topic of abortion, the wisdom that came was very simple: “You either believe in eternal life, or you don’t.”

But… What does that really mean?

Tithing and The Circle of Life – To Tithe, or Not

By Bruce Bernstein | Being Spiritual is Quick and Easy

The 21st Century Understanding and Definition for Tithing

Tithing is greatly misunderstood. Religions often take advantage of the misconceptions surrounding the act of tithing to enrich themselves at the expense of their followers.

In this post, we'll explore that further and re-define the act of tithing, making it appropriate for the 21st century and bringing it back to the realm of Spirituality.

Tithing may not seem controversial.  Just give, people may say.  What’s wrong with that?

At first glance, nothing.  But let’s examine this in a little more detail.

The internal drivers, the hidden motivations of the person who’s talking about tithing is an issue.  What’s their true motivation?  Do they have something to gain from this teaching?

The Art of Self Awareness: D • B • I • T • W… Don’t Be In The Way!

By Bruce Bernstein | What is Self Awareness?

Self Awareness is important.  In fact, it is the primary reason we’re all here: The actual point of life is to develop and increase our Self Awareness.  In this post, I’ll discuss some of the finer points of Self Awareness – some common-sense, actionable points which many overlook.

What is Self Awareness?

Self Awareness is ‘the development of an Awareness of the Self’.  (I am not trying to be ‘flippant’ with that answer! 😊)

What the above question & answer really lead to is an even bigger question:  What is the Self?

Most people think the answer to that question is all about the brain.  They think of the ‘Self’ as ‘I’.  I am this.  I do that.  I think these things…

God, Belief, and Spirituality – The Case Against Religion

By Bruce Bernstein | Being Spiritual is Quick and Easy

In the following post, I’ll be discussing the realization that most of the world's religions have outlived their usefulness. I'll offer proof. We have reached a moment in time for religion to be abandoned in favor of a different and more powerful, practical, and useful approach; one that helps us understand ourselves, our lives, and how we're all connected.

Although it never is my intent to offend or insult anyone, I realize that some who read this will be. Please Note: To be insulted by this, or anything else is a dynamic illustration of the Ego self in action, an indication of inner discord, and is a learning opportunity.

Active Spirituality™ is a remedy for this conundrum.

Religion Can Be A Waste of Time

Here’s what everyone needs to know: You are God.

This, I know, will be hard for some to believe. Nonetheless, it is true. Everyone alive today is God or, at least, an equal part of the ‘Greater God’.

Most people don’t know this and, even more importantly, don’t want to believe it. That's because this level of awareness and knowledge automatically brings with it a greater responsibility to oneself, to our neighbors, and to our planet, including all its living creatures.

Often, the directives they preach are misguided and even wrong.Well, ultimately, we do know better, even though most aren’t aware of this and don’t realize the power they have.

Spirituality Demystified

By Bruce Bernstein | Being Spiritual is Quick and Easy

What is Spirituality?

The world is an interesting place. And people are interesting creatures.

Some might feel a little uncomfortable being referred to as a ‘creature’ but, in the end, we are creatures, just like all living things – animals, birds, fish, and so on.  In fact, the argument can be made that plants, trees, and even molds and fungus are creatures, too.

Plants, trees, and other organisms are living ‘beings’, each given life by the same inner essence as we animals.

Spiritual Development/Awareness: I Almost Died in The Grand Canyon

By Bruce Bernstein | Bruce's Life

A Naive Approach

Out of water and physically exhausted in the 90 degree-plus, dry heat, I focused on just 1 thing. I believed it was a struggle for my life as willed myself forward, upward, along the seemingly endless climb up the Kaibab Trail at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Exhaustion had reduced my focus to only this: take the next step.

It had come to that. Just take 1 step. And even that felt impossible. Dying on this long, steep trail seemed like a real possibility.

My Meeting with an Enlightened Man: Experiences with Dr. David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD

By Bruce Bernstein | Bruce's Life

I parked my rental car in front of the remotely located address in the gorgeous town of Sedona, Arizona. I walked up a little path on the side of the small but lovely home on what appeared to be a very large property and, as instructed by the email they’d sent, I opened the door to a little waiting area and stepped inside.

I sat on a little wood bench and waited, wondering what was going to happen next. A few minutes after the appointed time, Dr. David R. Hawkins walked out and invited me into the little office in his home.
